Taking as an object of reconstruction and new architectural design one of the first buildings in St. Petersburg, that of the library, the project developers offer to compose the original archives space of "Surgutneftegaz", one of the biggest oil companies in modern Russian industry. The existing facades of the building constructed in 1960-s are scrupulously rebuilt and restored, newly lighted being turned into the first and foremost exhibit of the future museum. Development of the new function of the building is held due to the newly constructed additional volume of the entrance hall, glass tower and conference hall.

      Being composed under the recent design technology of the "warm mirror", the glass volume of the entrance hall can be defined as a metaphor of the human victory over harsh conditions of living on the far north, regarded also as a symbol of openness and democratic mind. The glass tower with the ladder, panorama lift, observation landing and clocks compose the significant architectural accent of the city-building kind and complete the ensemble of one of the central squares of Surgut. The spiral of the staircase included into the glassy quadrangle towering above the town symbolizes the progressive development of the company which the dwellers are relying upon for their future.

      The open fire at the top of the tower is the compulsory element of any sort of oil and gas production, it is speaking openly and metaphorically about the grandeur of the company influencing political and economical situation in the modern Russia.

      At the third level one can observe the grand conference hall which is a special transforming space, variable depending on the state of the sun a every concrete moment and reflecting the beams at the transparent walls. It is surrounded by the grove which evergreen trees at the background of the polar night and modern constructions of the faces are the brightest samples of the contemporary unity of a human being with his surroundings.

      Transparency of the whole composition is additionally emphasized by its kinetic elements: such are the moving of elevators, clock hands, special protective screens for the ceiling of the conference hall, tele-monitors, and the very people moving inside everything speaks about the modern energetic company who is yearning to gain the future.
